Over 20 organisations attended the Year 10 PSHE day to help Carr Hill High School deliver a packed programme of workshops and sessions focusing on careers and life skills.

Students took part in a series of workshops covering important topics such as managing money, fraud awareness, CV writing and using the internet safely and responsibly. The fire service and army were also present delivering sessions on safer lives and team-building respectively. Employers from over 20 local and national organisations took part in speed networking sessions which gave students the chance to find out more about a large range of job roles and industries via short 5 minute ‘interviews’ which each employer. The day ended with students participating in a ‘Learn Live’ session which enabled students to watch workplace based videos from some of the largest and most innovative employers in the UK.

Personal Development Leader Mr Beale said: “The Year 10 PSHE day was about providing our students with new learning opportunities whether that be inspiring them to find out more about a career in an industry they may not have considered before, helping them to look at the way they ‘act’ online and the impact that can have or how to better manage their money both now and in the future. Year 10 students really engaged with the sessions and have, hopefully, taken away a lot of useful information and advice which they can apply across many aspects of their lives.

“The PSHE Day would not have been possible without the representatives who attended from a wide variety of organisations. I would like to thank them for giving up their time and expertise to support the learning of the students at here at Carr Hill.”
