Year 9 Caitlyn performed at this year’s Lancashire Dance Festival, representing the Rowan school of dance and performance, alongside students from a variety of primary schools, secondary schools, specialist schools and youth groups.

Caitlyn, who is working towards her BTEC Dance qualification, came first in the Acro category. Acro is a style of dance that combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. Caitlyn also came 2nd in the Lyrical category, 3rd in the Own Choreography category and 4th in the Improvisation, Modern and Ballet categories.

Dance Teacher Miss O’Connor said: “As a school we offer our dance students many opportunities to represent the school in a range of competitions and festivals. It’s great to see students such as Caitlyn also competing outside of school and doing so well. Congratulations to Caitlyn on a fantastic achievement.”
