Open Evening 2023

We were so pleased that our Open Evening last Thursday was such a success. We had a record number of visitors, with lots of smiling faces and positive comments from those who chatted with staff at the event. Our students were a credit to themselves and their families, as they offered guided tours around the facilities and answered many questions from the children and their parents/carers. Other students were on hand within the departments to show their work, or to help with activities, thank you to all who took part. Head teacher Mr Waller, senior prefects and Year 7 students presented in the Hall on 2 occasions, and these talks were very well received.

We had this positive feedback from a family who attended -

"I attended the Open Evening last night and I wish to congratulate you all on a fantastic and successful event. My son and I had never been to Carr Hill before. The welcome from the students and staff, from the carpark to all the classrooms, was superb. Each representative from Carr Hill was approachable and eager to help us or show us what was on offer. We both left the school feeling incredibly positive and my son decided that he would apply for Carr Hill. I would like to congratulate a student who really shone and impressed us with his knowledge. He was a Year 8 and demonstrated experiments in the Physics classroom (Geetank), he managed to engage with my nervous son and get him to conduct the many experiments in the room with an excellent attitude and delivery of information, even with a broken wrist!"

Mr Waller wrote in his letter to parents, "We had a fantastic Open Evening and have received great feedback from many visitors to the school. It was so impressive that over 150 students volunteered to come back and help out with subject areas or act as tour guides. They were all an absolute credit to the school. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard as well."

We remind Year 6 students / parents / carers that you are very welcome to visit school on a normal working day, please just call the School Office on 01772 682008 to arrange.
