Carr Hill students, Phoebe and Olivia, have been selected for Team GB’s gymnastics squad following a successful group performance at the Lillieshall National Sports Centre.

The girls form part of a five person team that has been selected for the Juniors section (age 12-15) having completed an impressive ribbon and hoop routine. The team, who train for 25 hours a week, will now go on to train at a number of UK camps and are focusing on qualifying for the World Championship.

Olivia, who has been training for five years, said: “The best thing about competing as a team is that you aren’t on your own. You always know you have the support of friends when things are challenging.”

Phoebe, who has been training for four years, said: “It was a great feeling to qualify. We all felt so happy. All the hard work is worth it when you are doing something you enjoy so much."

Headteacher Mr Waller said: "Congratulations to Phoebe, Olivia and their team mates on this fantastic and well deserved accomplishment. The school community wish them all the best in the next stage of their training."
