Year 13 students studying A-Level Biology spent the day at Blackpool and Fylde College, University Centre Campus working under the direction of Dr Martin, Programme Leader for Higher Education Science.

Carr Hill students had the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in a University biomedical laboratory giving them an understanding of what studying biomedical sciences would be like at university. During the day students also had the opportunity to chat and work with first and second year undergraduate students.

The visit is the first in a series of three and over the coming weeks Carr Hill students will be carrying out practical work such as working a PCR machine, centrifuge machine, electrophoresis and transformation, working with live bacteria and identifying particular genes on DNA.
