Carr Hill’s 2018 school production wowed audiences over three evenings delivering a show which will be remembered for years to come.

The cast of 50 students performed the horror comedy rock musical to friends, parents, carers and members of the community having spent 150 hours learning lines, designing sets, choreographing dance routines and more. The students were even joined on stage by their very own version of the nightmare plant, Audrey II who ‘ate’ several cast members throughout the shows.

Kian, who played Mr Mushnik, said: “This is my second school production (Kian played Pugsley Addams last year) and I really enjoyed it. This role was more challenging and I think the confidence I gained last year helped me with that. I’d say to anyone else at school if you are thinking of trying out for next year’s production- go for it. It’s a great experience.”

Abi, who played the role of Audrey and the role of Wednesday Addams last year, said: “I wasn’t sure if I’d get a role when I auditioned and if so which one. I’ve heard of the Little Shop of Horrors and I was pleased to get the part of Audrey. The best thing about the whole experience has been the friends I’ve made.”

Dylan, who played Seymour in this year’s production and was Lucas in The Addams Family, said: “I auditioned for a solo part and was delighted to be given the role of Seymour alongside so many great performers. The school production is such a fun thing to do and there is a big sense of accomplishment at the end as you give it everything you have.”

Performing Arts Faculty Leader and school production Director Mrs Waldron said: “ Each year, as I watch our production come together, I am more and more swept away by the power of Theatre and Performance. The cast, crew and staff have worked tirelessly to bring this story to life for you amidst laughter, excitement, and the pure joy of working together. We really are very lucky to have such a special set of performers who made this experience second to none. In the creation of this musical I have been amazed by the talent and creativity of our young performing artists. The way their technical performance skills and professionalism has developed over the last six months is phenomenal and it has been wonderful to watch friendships blossom and confidence grow as a result of their involvement.”
