Over 100 students from eight primary schools took part in track and field events at Carr Hill’s Sportshall Athletics competition- all competing for the title of 2018 champions.

There were 12 track and field events which Year 3 and Year 4 students took part in before the champions were announced. In the end Newton Bluecoats came out on top with an incredible score of 364 points thanks to boys and girls wins in obstacle relay, 1 + 1 lap relay, 2 + 2 lap relay, over/under relay and the speed bounce.  Weeton primary school took the silver with 256 points and Holy Family primary school took the bronze with 216 points. Congratulations to all the students who took part- there were fantastic individual and group performances across the board.

PE teacher and Sports Partnership and Academies Officer, Mr Doughty, said: “ Thank you to our primary schools for another superb event. The atmosphere was fantastic and all pupils were really enjoying themselves. Well done to everyone who participated. Each primary pupil represented their school with pride and showed great sportsmanship. Thank you also goes to our Sports Leaders who did a great job of ensuring the event ran smoothly- your help is always appreciated.”
