A group of Carr Hill students have been given the role of Student Librarian and are now assisting staff with the day to day running of the school Learning Resource Centre.

The students, who were appointed following an application process, have been given their roles based on their interest in books and the skills and qualities they have demonstrated that they can bring to the position. The Student Librarians help during mentor times on a rotational system.

The Student Librarian role includes shelving fiction books in A-Z order, shelving non-fiction books in subject order, keeping the books tidy and in the correct order, helping with library displays, helping to issue and return resources and helping to repair resources.

Mrs Somers said: “We have appointed a select number of Student Librarians following a successful application process. The role is a great opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge in an area the students have an interest in. The work the Student Librarians do is also helping us to improve the way we run the library benefitting pupils and staff alike.”
