This year the Government is running its Year of Engineering campaign, and it certainly has been a year of engineering success at Carr Hill High School with many Year 11 and Year 13 students about to begin apprenticeships with top companies and further study with leading education providers.

Year 11 students Scott, Alfie and Tom and Year 13 student Zans leave Carr Hill this summer having successfully completed their respective Engineering courses and will shortly begin engineering apprenticeships at some of the UK’s largest and most successful companies. Scott will start a mechatronic apprenticeship with Kepak, whilst Alfie will be embarking on a nuclear engineering apprenticeship at Shepley. Tom will be working as an apprentice for BAE in the aerospace sector and Zans will be employed as an engineering apprentice at VW. Year 13 Robertas has also been accepted to study Engineering at University and Year 11’s David, Josh and Omar will also be continuing to study the subject at a Post 16 level.

Head of Technology and Engineering teacher Mrs Dandy said: “I would like to congratulate all our students who will be going on to study or work in engineering. All these pupils showed commitment and drive during their studies coupled with a natural interest in the subject and this has been rewarded by places at college, university and apprenticeships. It’s such an exciting time within the sector and I’m sure these students will take the opportunities they have been given to go on to build challenging and diverse careers for themselves. I look forward to hearing about their future successes.”
