A group of Year 7 students recently visited Wesham Primary School to support the school’s multi-faith week. Carr Hill students used materials such as PlayDoh, acrostic poems and lively discussions to help Year 4 and Year 6 pupils understand why people disagree about God.

Carr Hill students also gave the primary school pupils the opportunity to test their knowledge of major world religions and reflect on their own concept of God.  After this, the Year 4 and Year 6 students were told the story of the Blind men and the Elephant, which shows that people have different ideas about God because no-one can see what he is actually like. Both classes finished their sessions by thinking about different symbols and metaphors for God, including an eagle, a tree and an ice cream.

Year 7 Olivia said:“It was lots of fun because everybody was so engaged and had a great time.”

Fellow Year 7 Esme said:“The classes were amazing and the groups we worked with were very enthusiastic about RS!”

RE teacher Mr Churm said:“It was great to see Carr Hill pupils helping the Year 4s and 6s to explore some difficult RS concepts, and having fun too. I’m very grateful for their superb contributions.”
