A group of students spent the February half term break in New York City. Year 10 student, Ryan, shares his photos and experiences from the trip here.

Day One
On the first day, we spent nine hours travelling to New York. When we arrived we were given a couple of hours of free time at the hostel where we were staying before we went out to Times Square for the evening. Whilst at Times Square we were given an hour or so to go around in our small groups and visit some of the shops. Afterwards it was time to go to Planet Hollywood for a meal. Most people had a cheeseburger because what better way to start an American trip!

Day Two
On the second day, we left the hostel at around 10 o'clock to head out to visit The Statue of Liberty. To get there we had to take the tube which we all loved. We arrived at The Statue of Liberty early so we had a bit of time to spare, this gave us a chance to visit Wall Street where we saw the famous Charging Bull.

After that we took the ferry across to The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Once back on the mainland we travelled to Brooklyn Bridge which was simply amazing. In the evening we had dinner at the Hard Rock Café which was fun.

Day Three
On the third day, we visited an amazing place, the 9/11 museum, which I thought was fascinating. The sheer scale of the One World Trade Centre (Freedom Tower) was astonishing. Afterwards we took a short walk across to St Paul’s Chapel.

After lunch we visited the Museum of Natural History (which is the one featured in the film Night at the Museum). For tea we went to The Heartland Brewery which is located at the bottom of the Empire State Building.

Day Four
On the fourth day we had the most amazing breakfast I think any of us have ever had before at Ellen's Stardust Diner. At the diner all of the waiters and waitresses sing and dance while you eat.

We then took a walk to The Rockefeller Centre where we managed to see all of New York from above. As it was daytime we could see everything really clearly. We then took the tram to Roosevelt Island and had a walk around before returning to Manhattan for a walk down Fifth Avenue. We finished the day with a meal at Bubba Gump Shrimp and some more shopping at Times Square.

Day Five
In the morning of our final day we were up bright and early to pack up all of our belonging before heading out for a morning of shopping. Firstly, we went to Fifth Avenue and then to Macy's. Sadly, we then had to say goodbye to New York and draw an end to our amazing trip.

Many thanks to all of the teachers that had an input in making the trip happen, especially Mr Johnstone, Mr Waller, Miss Clancy and Mrs Somers.
