It was World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March and to celebrate this special event Carr Hill staff organised a week of events aimed at promoting the importance of books and reading.

Every day during lunchtime, the Hub and English staff offered a different activity including origami bookmark and bunting making, working on a book collage, Where’s Wally, Guess the book in a jar, Guess the teacher's favourite childhood story, Decorate your door as favourite book or character and taking part in lots of different quizzes. Students also attended 'Starbooks', a relaxing event with the opportunity to enjoy a good book, hot chocolate and a cupcake.

Head of English, Mrs McDonough said: “We’ve had a great week working with students on lots of different book and reading related activities both in and outside of lessons. Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the activities and I hope that their experiences this week will encourage them to continue enjoying to read. I would like to thank our school librarian Mrs Young and all the English staff for helping to make the week such a success.”
