Members of the Sixth Form Committee planned and delivered a road safety talk for Year 7 students to mark Road Safety Week.

Sixth form students Jack and Matthew discussed the importance of being visible, sensible and careful on the way to and from school especially in the darker winter months. The committee had also sourced hi-vis tags and stickers which they handed out to Year 7s during the assembly- explaining the importance of wearing the items on bags and coats whilst out in the dark.

The sixth form students also came up with a competition to further promote the importance of road safety encouraging Year 7’s to design a road safety poster. Every Year 7 who enters will receive a merit. The committee will then have the tough job of picking the top three entries and prizes will be given to the students behind the design. The overall winner will be displayed around school as part of the school's commitment to keep all students safe on the roads!

Head Boy, Jack, said: “The committee wanted to do something to highlight the importance of road safety amongst younger students so we planned the assembly and decided on the best ways to raise awareness. We are hoping to get lots of entries for the competition and look forward to seeing the Year 7 designs.”
