Carr Hill High School students working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award completed their practice expedition along the River Brock and around Parlick last weekend.

Students developed their map reading, navigation and camp site skills whilst overcoming curious cows, landslides blocking paths and plummeting night time temperatures- handling every scenario fantastically well.

Mr Cullinan, was one of the staff members to join the students on the trip. He said: “The practice expedition was a huge success and the students had a great time. Lessons for the main expedition were learned as well.  For instance you do not need to pack Kylie Jenner’s make-up and toiletry recommendations for a night away when you have to carry it all round in a rucksack.  Also, mountain survival meals all taste the same no matter what it says on the packet, and that is not very nice!”
