This week Year 8 students were treated to a reading by the famous author Joseph Delaney.
Joseph, who penned the popular Spooks series, came in to read from the first book in his new series- entitled Arena 13. The first book is called The Prey and the series is set to follow in the successful footsteps of the Spooks collection.
Joseph also took time to answer questions from students, talk about the first of the books in the Spooks series being made into a film and signed copies of his books.
The school’s librarian, Mrs Young, said: “We would like to thank Joseph for visiting the school and sharing an extract from his new book with staff and students. Many of our pupils are fans of his books so they were delighted to have the chance to meet him in person.”
Author visits are a great experience for our students as the sessions encourage them to read. If the author is someone they don’t know the visit may spark an interest in a different genre of book. The visits also show our students, who are passionate about writing, what they can achieve if they want to work in the creative industry. We hope this will be the first of many author visits this year."
