Pupils were given the opportunity to complete tasks and challenges in rock climbing whilst getting to know their new classmates. The pupils also enjoyed an afternoon ghyll scrambling in Langdale Valley.

The trip is designed to give pupils the chance to try new sports and develop team-building and communication skills. Students can also choose to use their rock climbing assessment score towards their final GCSE grade.

The residential trip has been running for seven years and this year it was held at Tower Wood- a residential Outdoor Education Centre in Windermere. Pupils stayed in the new luxury accommodation at Tower Wood and spent the evenings taking part in team building activities in Lake Windermere, including some water based fun!

Head of Faculty for PE Mr Haydock said: “This is a hugely popular trip and a great start to the two year course. We have a good cohort of students this year and I’m confident they will really enjoy the course and come away with some great grades if they continue to put the hard work in.”
