The trip, which took place over the Summer holidays, was open to all Year 12 (now Year 13) students and involved staying in halls, attending lectures and seminars and finding out about clubs and societies.

Students from across the country attended the residential visit and had the chance to attend lectures and seminars relevant to the course they are thinking about starting next September. Year 13 Lauren Edwards, who is considering a degree in Primary Education, took part in the trip. She said: “Miss Stott (Post-16 Care Leader) made me aware of the trip before the end of last year. She encouraged me to take part and helped me to organise my place.

"It was a great experience; I had the opportunity to learn more about my course and uni life in general. I was also able to meet lots of people through the halls I was staying in and the society events in the evenings. I’ve stayed in touch with a lot of the other students so if I decide to study at Edge Hill next year I will already know people when I get there."

Miss Stott (Post-16 Care Leader) said:“Our students should try to take any opportunities available to them from the Sixth Form to experience the options open to them after their time here is finished. We work with universities, businesses and other organisations to ensure that our students are able to learn about the different routes open to them in their futures. It any of our students are interested in specific university, apprenticeship or work-related experience they should come and see me or Mr Napier. We will be more than happy to look into the options available.”
