Carr Hill Sixth Form Centre hosted its annual Private View event which enabled over 20 of the school’s most gifted artists to put on their own exhibition.

Students were responsible for everything from deciding which artwork they wanted to exhibit to designing and distributing the marketing material to promote the event. The evening was not only an opportunity for students to showcase their work, it also gave them an understanding of what life could be like as a working artist- an invaluable experience for those hoping to pursue a career in the creative industries.

This year the event had its biggest turn out yet, with local dignitaries and members of the community joining students' family, friends and school staff. As well as browsing the artwork, guests enjoyed refreshments and live entertainment.

Photography teacher, Miss Wignall, said: "The event was, yet again, a huge success. Our students and staff work incredibly hard to make the event perfect and so I’m thrilled so many people came along on the night to support our talented young artists."

The event provides a platform for students to experience a sense of being ‘a working artist’ in a safe secure environment which is something they enjoy and learn a lot from. In addition to selling their work, students have also receive requests for private commissions both of which are testament to the quality of the work being produced."
