The exams have given Year 10 students the opportunity to see where they are doing well and what they need to do to improve so that when they return in September they can maximise the time they have left before their exams.

The results were given out in a mix of the number 1-9 grading and the current A*-G grading. Year 10 Tansy gained a Level 8 in Maths and a Level 6 in English (a Level 5 is considered a good pass), three A*’s, three A’s and one B. Tansy said: “I’m thrilled with History, Biology and RS as I got A*’s in all three. I did revise a lot and I feel confident about what I need to do next year.”

Year 10 Niamh got a Level 8 in Maths and a Level 5 in English and one A*, four A’s and two B’s. Niamh said: “I’ve learnt that finding the right revision technique is important. For me reading and doing practice questions works best.”

Assistant Headteacher Ms Hilton-Peet said: “There have been some very impressive results for our Year 10 students and I feel confident that, if they continue to work hard over the coming 10 months leading up to their GCSE exams, they will achieve some top results. The important thing now is to look at how students can build on the results they have received and use them to continue to improve.”
