This week Carr Hill Sixth Form Centre announced which students will be representing the school as Head Boy and Head Girl for the academic year 2016/2017.

Next year’s Head Boy will be Year 12 Jack, whilst fellow Year 12 Alice will take up the role of Head Girl. Both students have attended the school since Year 7 and are active members of the school community. Jack, who is also the school’s Sporting Elite Media Officer, has previously been given the converted Student of the Year award whilst Alice is the captain of the Sporting Elite Netball Academy.

As always, there was a great response to the advertisement of the posts which were open to current Year 12 students. Assistant Headteacher Mr Napier said: “The number and standard of applicants was high this year and we were fortunate to have so many outstanding students to choose from.”

Jack and Alice were picked because as students they reflect the ethos of the school. They are positive, hardworking and make a real contribution to the school community in a host if different ways. They are excellent role models for our students and great representatives for the school community. I look forward to hearing their ideas about positive changes we can make to continue to improve the school for all students.”

In addition to the Head Boy and Head Girl role, Year 12s Matthew and Emily have been appointed Student Ambassadors. Matthew and Emily will be responsible for representing the school at external events- a vital role in continuing to build on the school’s positive profile in the community.

Whilst the roles are of huge benefit to the school they are also a great experience for the students appointed. The roles require confidence, dedication, positivity, professionalism, strong communication skills and much more. Being able to demonstrate key traits such as these is invaluable when applying for apprenticeships, university or work.

Mr Napier and Miss Stott, Post 16 Care Leader, would like to thank all the students who took the time to apply.
