A group of local primary schools spent the day at Carr Hill High School taking part in an orienteering challenge.

The activity was one of a number of sport related initiatives delivered by Carr Hill’s PE Department and student Sports Leaders. The primary schools have previously competed in athletics tournaments at Carr Hill but this was the first time many of the pupils had taken part in an orienteering challenge.

The primary school students worked in teams of six and within each team the pupils paired off taking a different colour for the challenge. The teams worked together to find the control points dotted around the school and discover the correct code.

At the end of the day the top three teams were:

Ribby with Wrea Team 1- 170 points

Strike Lane- 137 points

St Michael’s Team 1- 130 points

Pupils from these teams were rewarded with a medal and certificate.

PE Teacher Mr Doughty said: “90 primary school pupils took part in the activity and at the end of the day the scores were high. A huge well done to all the teams who took part and thank you to our Year 7 and 8 Sports Leaders for helping to make the activity such a success.”
