A group of students in Year 8, 9 and 10 spent their weekend developing teamwork skills and taking part in challenges whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery of Borwick Hall in the village of Borwick.

The outdoor education centre provided the perfect base for Carr Hill pupils to explore. Friday evening was spent on a local walk where pupils learnt some orienteering and map reading skills.

The next day there were team challenges, leap of faith, kayaking on the Lancaster Canal, pond traverse, tower traverse and a tour of Borwick Hall.

The trip was organised as part of the school’s Pupil Premium offer. Pupil Premium Mentor Mrs Somers said: “This trip was an opportunity for our students to work together, learn skills, visit a different place and make new friends. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip and threw themselves into every activity and the weather was perfect for being out in the fresh air.”

The Pupil Premium is the name of the fund given directly to schools to support students who are in receipt of Free School Meals , or who have been registered within the last 6 years. The children of Armed  Forces families and young people who are in care are also eligible for Pupil Premium funding. These funds are in addition to the main school budget and are allocated on the basis of the number of students who qualify for the Pupil Premium.
