Year 7 students, who raised over £1,000 for charity by selling postcards with their designs on, have received a thank you from the organisation with details of how their donation has helped.  The money is being used to install solar pumps on the boreholes in order to provide water for the animals and birds.

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife sanctuary with an enormous biodiversity of flora and fauna. It is home to countless animals, birds and other creatures and has one of the biggest populations of elephants in Africa. It also has at least 100 other animal species, over 400 bird species and more than 1000 different plants and grasses as well as countless insects and other small creatures.

Carr Hill students have been raising money for the charity through designing postcards for a number of years and the initiative has always been well supported by the students’ families and friends who purchase the postcards to raise the money.

Trustee David Dell said: “With your help we will make sure they all survive for future generations to enjoy. The burden of repaying the debt we all owe to wildlife is falling on younger people and it is wonderful to see Carr Hill students stepping up to the plate and accepting the challenge. Well done!”

Art teacher Miss Wignall said: “We are all delighted to know that the work of the students and generosity of those who purchased cards has made such a difference to the animals."
