The Year 8 girls sportshall athletics team represented Wyre & Fylde at the 2016 Sportshall Athletics UK County Finals at Hyndburn Sports Centre this week. After putting in a fantastic performance the girls were awarded a well-deserved third place. There were 14 schools taking part on the day but the competition featured 80 schools across the region over the course of the academic year. This achievement follows the success of our Year 7 Boys’ Team who came second in the same competition, again, beating over 80 schools.

The girls' team consists of Aaliyah, Kylise, Amy, Chloe, Milly, Faye, Tara, Alice and Megan.

PE teacher Mr Doughty said: “The PE department is incredibly proud of the girls and the Year 7 boys who came 2nd in Lancashire last month. We are fortunate to have so many fantastic young athletes at Carr Hill who do a wonderful job of representing the school.”

There were some superb individual and team performances from the girls on the day:

Lancashire Obstacle Relay Champions - Alice , Aaliyah, Tara and Chloe - 78.0s

Lancashire Speed Bounce Champion - Alice - 89 bounces (in 30 seconds!)
