Every year students and staff celebrate World Book Day and this year everyone was as keen to get involved as ever!

The event is celebrated over a whole week and students have the opportunity to participate in a whole range of fun activities designed to  promote the benefits of reading!

Pupils from all years took part in an interactive Book Quiz  and enjoyed spooky storytelling. The ever popular ‘StarBooks’ returned - giving students the opportunity to enjoy a hot chocolate and sweet treats whilst reading their favourite hardback or paperback.  Pupils and staff also spent the week sending in photos of themselves reading their current book. These photos were shared on the school social media sites.

Year 7, 8 and 9 students were provided with a £1 book voucher from their English teachers and ERIC (Everyone reads in class) was encouraged throughout the day.

English teacher Ms Fry said: “World Book Day is a celebratory event. It’s all about celebrating reading and the benefits reading can bring to young people and adults. The activities we have provided this week have been well attended and enjoyed by our students. I feel that we have certainly highlighted the benefits of reading and hopefully encouraged our pupils to read more widely.”
