The prestigious award was given to the school following nominations provided by anonymous voters. Despite being unable to disclose the identity of those who nominated the school, Fylde Sports did share some of the reasons Carr Hill was selected. Reasons included:

“Carr Hill dedicates hours of its time to encourage participation in sporting activities. As well as the curriculum offer the school also offers extra curriculum clubs to engage with a wide variety of students.”

“Carr Hill is always looking at ways to improve the offer to its students and that has been evident recently with the introduction of handball. The funding money was sourced and a club set up to deliver a non-traditional sport.”

“Extra curriculum clubs are offered to students on a daily basis and the offer includes traditional and non-traditional sports.”

“Trips in school include sporting activities and trips to places like Birmingham. A dream trip to South Africa has also been offered to students and the academy teams have enjoyed such trips.”

Students and staff will attend the Fylde Council Sports Awards evening at the end of November when the school will be officially presented with the award.

PE Teacher Mr Doughty said: “We are delighted to have won this award and would like to thank everyone who voted for us. Sport is a huge part of life at Carr Hill and we constantly ensure we are giving our students the best and most varied sporting opportunities and experiences possible.

“We are looking forward to attending the event later this term and officially accepting our   Secondary School of the Year award.”
