The production, which is an American musical inspired by William Shakespeare's  play Romeo and Juliet, is world renowned. The story features a modern day Romeo and Juliet who are involved in New York street gangs. On the harsh streets of the upper west side, two gangs battle for control of the turf. The situation becomes complicated when a gang members falls in love with a rival's sister.

Drama teacher Mrs Waldron is one of the staff involved in bringing the production to Carr Hill High School. She said: “West Side Story is a fantastic musical and I believe that the students at Carr Hill High School & Sixth Form Centre have the talent to bring the story to life. Preparations are now in full swing and rehearsals will be taking place regularly during  lunchtimes, evenings and weekends in the coming months. We are all very excited about the production and I encourage people to come and watch the show. You will not be disappointed.”

West Side Story will be performed at Carr Hill High School on Wednesday 25th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th November. More information and ticket details will be released in the coming weeks.
