The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card sized single board developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting the teaching of computer science in schools.

Louis’ IT teacher Miss Gregson said: “Louis is attempting to mirror the Oculus Rift, a next generation virtual reality headset.  Louis has taken exploring the Raspberry Pi to another level and although he is currently awaiting a screen and set of additional components, I am more than confident he will succeed in his goal of completely immersing people inside a virtual reality world.

“Louis has been attending the Raspberry Jam events for quite some time and we have observed frequently the growing number of younger attendees completely inspired by Louis' drive and innovative creations.  We are very fortunate to have Louis as a student at Carr Hill High School and support him fully in reaching his full potential within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.  This underlying enthusiasm and commitment will no doubt open the doors to a world of opportunities and possibilities which come from pursuing STEM subjects and careers.”

If any students want to come along to the Raspberry Jam events they are held the first Monday of every month at the Media Factory, UCLAN.  Younger students will need to be supervised by an adult. Please speak to Miss Gregson for more information.
