Carr Hill High School and Sixth Form Centre is proud to announce that students and staff will be delivering a production of the famous West Side Story.

The Drama, Music and Dance departments will be working together to deliver a memorable show which will be performed in November. Staff are already searching for the stars of the show alongside the ever important backstage crew and front of house support.

The production, which will take place over three evenings, offers students the chance to participate in all performance disciplines and in roles such as technicians, stage managers and marketing and promotions.

As with previous productions, West Side Story is set to be one of the key events of the next academic year with rehearsals starting in early July. Students wishing to audition for a lead role will need to perform a song of their choice at the first audition round which takes place the week beginning 15th June, all others will receive a free pass to the live shows. Audition stages for acting, singing and dance will continue over two weeks with call backs scheduled for the end of June.

Assistant Director of Learning for Creativity Mrs Waldron said: “This production is an excellent opportunity for our students. Pupils can develop their performance abilities, build their confidence, learn new skills and showcase their talents whether taking part on stage or behind the scenes. It’s a real school community effort and I encourage our students to be a part of what promises to be a fantastic production.”

Students who are interested in taking part in the production, in any capacity, should speak to a member of Drama, Music or Dance staff for more information.
