Sixth form photography students have, once again, been recognised at the Young Photographer of the Year 2015 competition organised by the Rotary Club of Kirkham and Rural Fylde.

The competition, which is run by Rotary Clubs across the county, has taken place for a number of years and Carr Hill Sixth Form students have always been successful entrants. This year was no different with the three top places in the competition going to members of the school sixth form.

First place went to Year 12 Jordan who impressed judges with his entry based on this year’s theme ‘Light up the community.’ Jordan, whose images have been put forward to The District Rotary stage of the competition, felt his images truly represented his community Lytham St Annes. Jordan said: “The way the images represent the community are that they each show different, bright colours and show how creative our community is. That is how my images represent the theme. “Light up the Community.”

Second place went to Year 12 student Katie and third place to another Year 12 student also called Katie. There will be a presentation to all three students at the school’s end of year Art Preview evening, an event which showcases artwork from across the school to members of the local community.

Photography teacher Miss Wignall said: “I’m delighted that our students have been placed first, second and third in this year’s competition. All the entries submitted by our students demonstrated that they had clearly considered the theme and used their natural creative ability to interpret it in their own way. I would like to thank all the students who took the time to enter and, on behalf of everyone in the AS level photography class, I wish Jordan good luck at the district stage of the Young Photographer of the Year 2015 competition.
