Carr Hill High School welcomed 30 students from local primary school Kirkham St Michael’s to take part in a fun and interactive art workshop.

The primary school students were invited to a session which focused on graffiti art. The students learnt about the art form by looking at famous artists such as Banksy and how he has altered famous works of art to send a certain message or make people feel a certain way.

The workshop was run by Art teacher Mrs Williams, who was assisted by seven new Carr Hill Art Ambassadors. Josephine, Charlotte, Emily, Megan, Alice, Faye and Rosie have recently volunteered their time to help at events such as this primary school workshop. The Year 7 students helped St Michael’s pupils learn more about studying art at Carr Hill. They also told the school visitors about life at Carr Hill and the opportunities available to them.

Mrs Wild said: “The workshop was a great success and enjoyed by both St Michael’s and Carr Hill students. These sessions are a great opportunity for students from local primary schools to learn something new in a different environment as well as getting a taste of life as a secondary school pupil.”

Art Ambassador Josephine said: “I liked speaking to the primary school students about what school is like and how things like merits are given out. We will be volunteering at other workshops this year and I’m looking forward to those.”
