A new club designed to encourage students to develop their French language skills has received a great response from pupils.

French Club takes place every Friday and is open to Year 7 and 8 pupils. Students do have to be able to speak French or to be studying it at school as the club caters for all abilities. The lunch time club offers pupils a fun way to learn and improve language skills.  Activities include number word searches, role play activities and listening to traditional French music.

Mrs Machin runs the club. She said: “This club is open to all Year 7 and 8 students no matter whether they have had experience of the French language before or not. The club is about providing a fun environment for pupils to learn in. All the activities are interactive and designed to help improve language skills in an accessible way.”

Year 7 student Matthew is one of the club’s keenest members. He said: “I came to the club with my friends because we like spending our lunch break doing activities.”

Fellow Year 7 Paige has no experience of studying or speaking French however she was keen to learn. She said: “I like all the creative activities and I’m enjoying learning a new language.”

The French Club takes place every Friday lunchtime in Room 23.
