Carr Hill Netball Academy faced Westholme in an action and fast paced match. The starting team was Hannah (GS), Zoe (GA), Ellie (WA), Nicole (C), Alice (WD), Helen (GD) and Emily (GK). The substitutes were Year 11 students Jess, Elizabeth, Darcy, Amy, Lauryn and Elise.

Westholme kicked off the quarter by scoring the first goal but this didn’t stop Carr Hill fighting back. Ellie demonstrated brilliant techniques early in the game, with superb catches, and team captain Zoe worked very well with Hannah to get the ball down the court quickly. Carr Hill soon secured their first goal, scored by Zoe. However, Westholme scored two additional goals, making the score 3-1. Still, Carr Hill didn’t give up; they stayed together and got the ball down the court as fast as possible without fault. This resulted in a goal from Zoe.

Defenders Helen and Emily covered the goal so no one from the opposing side could score proving to be a partnership to reckon with. However, Carr Hill couldn’t stop Westholme from scoring two additional goals. Despite Westholme winning the Carr Hill team managed to pass the ball successfully to Zoe three consecutive times, resulting in three goals. The Carr Hill team were on fire for the rest of the quarter and it ended 7-10 to Carr Hill.

At the start of the second quarter it was clear Helen and Emily were looking out for one another making sure they had each other’s backs. The first goal of the second quarter was scored by Zoe but Westholme came back fighting and managed to score a goal straight after. However, this was quickly followed by another goal from Zoe. Alice then gave a great challenge and this helped Hannah to score another goal making the score 8-13. Nicole helped to get the ball down the court and passed the ball to Alice who managed to get the ball to Zoe. After two attempts Zoe scored, it was now 8-14 to Carr Hill.  Zoe and Hannah managed to score a goal each after that but a determined Westholme scored two further goals. At end the second quarter Hannah scored another great goal. The score was now 10-17.

The third quarter began with an immediate goal from Zoe. Even though it was just minutes into the quarter Emily and Alice were on form and were helping the team out as much as possible. Some of the best passes happened in this quarter particularly between Ellie, Nicole, Helen and Alice and this resulted in another two goals from Zoe. The opposing team managed to score a goal but this was not made easy thanks to Helen. Side-line support from the substitutes provided a boost and Hannah managed to score another goal. This was followed by two goals for Westholme and another for Carr Hill.

The fourth and final quarter began and Carr Hill players were working well together. Alice was using powerful moves which helped the team to secure more goals. Zoe scored four great goals making the score 14-28. However, Westholme then scored. Alice supported her team mates and helped Zoe who almost scored again. Westholme then scored a brilliant goal but Carr Hill took advantage and scored another. Just like previous quarters it went back and forth. Westholme and Carr Hill scored a goal each. There were more goals before the end of the match and it ended 20-31 to Carr Hill.

Westholme gave player of the match to Zoe who scored some of the standout goals. Carr Hill gave their player of the match to Helen for her outstanding contribution to the match.

Year 11 student Jess said: “I thought the team played really well! In training sessions we have been working on our foot work, which really came into the game! We thought that the players of the match were Year 11s, Helen and Alice and Year 13 Zoe!”
