Year 13 student Ayse wants to raise awareness of a 9/11 National Schools Competition which offers young people the opportunity to win a trip to New York City.

The competition, run by the charity SINCE 9/11, is open to students aged between 13 and 16 years old, and asks entrants to consider ‘How did 9/11 change the world?’ Pupils interested in entering the competition need to use the question as a basis to produce a short film, three to five minutes long, or write a 1,200 word essay.

In 2012 Carr Hill student Ayse was one of the competition winners and as a result she was flown to New York City for four days alongside five other successful students. The trip is organised by the charity and is dedicated to inspiring learning about the events, causes and consequences of 9/11.

Ayse said: “It was an amazing opportunity for me to get the chance to meet amazing people and hear their stories and I just want more people to have the opportunity that I had to enter the competition.”

Ayse is now a young ambassador for the charity and is working hard to promote the competition so that other students have the chance to win this fantastic prize.

The competition is open until Friday 27th March. For more details visit  www.since911competition.com
