Film Club has been running for two years and continues to increase in popularity amongst students.

The club, which runs every Friday lunchtime, is open to students of all years and is regularly packed out. Pupils have the opportunity to suggest films for the club and often vote on what to watch next. All films watched are 12 rated or below and students can choose from a range of titles and genres.

Around 30 students attend the club every week and watch the films on a large projector screen whilst enjoying their lunch.

English teacher Miss Gardener runs the club. She said: “Film Club is an ideal place for pupils to come and relax during their lunch break. Pupils have a real input into the films that are shown and this means we cover something for all interests.”

Year 9 student Connor said: “I like to come to Film Club with a group of friends. It’s a different way to spend my lunch break.”

Year 7 student Max comes to Film Club to experience the variety of films. Max said: “I see a lot of films I probably wouldn’t think of watching at home.”

Both boys agree their favourite film so far has been Pacific Rim and say that the imagination behind the film impressed them.

Year 8 student Nyah is also an avid Film Club member. She joined in December 2013 and has been to almost every club since. Nyah said: “I love movies and watch lots at home. I love that I can watch films whilst at school too.”

Film Club takes place every Friday lunchtime and is open to all students.
