Over 200 students achieved 100 percent attendance during the autumn term having not missed a single day or lesson.

The latest attendance announcement follows the news that in the last three years Carr Hill High School has been below the National Average for Persistent Absentees and below the National Average for sessions missed due to Overall Absence.

Staff, students, parents and carers have been working together to improve attendance and the latest figures show the results of those efforts. Assistant Headteacher Ms McKeon said: “Attendance is directly related to the success of students’ education so it’s important that we all work together to ensure that pupils are attending school every day. I’m delighted that so many of our students have shown such dedication to their education.”

One student who has shown particular commitment is Year 10 Edward. In his four years at Carr Hill High School Edward has never had an absence. He said: “I enjoy coming to school and lessons are fun. I’m really pleased I’ve never missed a day.”

The school recently launched a dedicated Drop-In centre for students to ensure everyone receives the support required to gain the most from their education. The service takes place during a Monday lunchtime in the College Leaders’ Office and is run by the school’s Attendance Team.

The drop-in session is for any pupils who may have attendance issues or worries. Students can discuss anything from struggling to get to school on time to anxieties about coming to school to advice on morning routines.

Ms McKeon said: “The school continues to do all it can to ensure that students gain the most from their education, offering a range of support and guidance to all who need it.”
