The Gym and Dance Display has long been a key event in the school calendar. It is an evening dedicated to showcasing the talents of the school’s young dancers and gymnasts.

Carr Hill’s Sporting Elite Dance Academy members have already begun rehearsing routines for the display which takes place in March. For the Dance Academy students it is one of the biggest events of the year. Academy members will deliver several group performances in addition to individual pieces. Rehearsals take place weekly and the level of talent and commitment grows each year.

But it is not just the Academy members who ensure the show is a knock-out as every year students from across the school also audition for the chance to perform their own routines. Dance teacher Miss O’Connor is currently recruiting for the auditions which take place on Thursday 12th February.

Miss O’Connor said: “We have a wealth of talented performers at Carr Hill and I’m keen to get as many of these students involved in the Gym and Dance Display as possible.

“Many students choose to take part in the show as an extra-curricular activity whilst others use it as an opportunity to complete their GCSE and A Level coursework. In addition to the performers we also have pupils who help to make the costumes for the production and others who are responsible for producing the marketing material, such as programmes and posters. There are lots of ways to get involved in the event.”

Students who would like to perform a gymnastics routine in the Gym and Dance Display need to choreograph a routine to music and perform on Thursday 12th February. More information is available from Miss O’Connor, Mrs Carroll or Mrs Beesley.
