Carr Hill Netball Academy faced Cheadle Hulme away in a fast paced and energizing match.  The starting team was Amy (GS), Zoe (GA), Ellie (WA), Lucy (C), Erin (WD), Nicole (GD) and Emily (GK). The substitutes for the match were Helen, Alice, Elizabeth and Lauryn.

As soon as the game began Carr Hill got straight into it. The players demonstrated their great techniques and their sure determination to get the ball to shooters Amy and Zoe. After only minutes Zoe had scored two amazing goals. Unfortunately, Cheadle Hulme had scored one goal but Carr Hill didn’t let that stop them and Zoe scored again! Furthermore, Emily and Nicole showed some great passing and team work between them.

The Carr Hill team carried on throughout the first quarter, moving fast down the court and giving some great challenges to the opposing side. This helped Zoe secure two further goals and both her and Amy showed great efforts. As the quarter continued Amy scored a goal and Zoe scored another two goals. Emily did a great job of defending and a brilliant turnover which lead Amy to score another goal making the score 9 to 1. Although the opposing team scored another goal the Carr Hill players didn’t let this stop them and they got the ball to Zoe, resulting in another marvellous goal. Cheadle Hulme kept on coming with challenges but Carr Hill were the better team in this quarter. Near the end of the first quarter Zoe scored three more goals making the score 14 to 2.

The second quarter began and Helen came on for Emily as Goal Keeper. Carr Hill and Cheadle Hulme got straight into the game as soon as the whistle was blown. At the start of this quarter both Amy and Zoe came close to scoring. Later on Zoe did score a goal, making it 15 to 2. Helen proved herself to be a useful member of the squad as she demonstrated great defending.

Meanwhile, the opposing team and Carr Hill scored two goals each, making the score 18 to 4. Ellie played very well throughout this quarter alongside her team mates Lucy and Erin. Cheadle Hulme scored again but Carr Hill got back on track pretty quick. Ellie once again showed herself to be a well needed member of the squad and assisted Zoe in scoring two further goals. Nicole, Zoe and Lucy played well together and didn’t let Cheadle Hulme have many opportunities to get the ball. However, to end the second quarter, Cheadle Hulme scored another goal making the overall score, 19 to 6.

The third quarter began with the same squad as the second quarter. Carr Hill got the ball down to Goal Shooter Amy as quickly as possible and although she didn’t score at first she carried on until she did making the score 20 to 6. Just like the first two quarters Carr Hill players showed great team work skills. Once again Helen was a great Goal Keeper and did a brilliant job of defending. Amy and Zoe were brilliant at passing throughout the game and helped each other to play to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, Cheadle Hulme scored again but Zoe and the team made sure they picked it up quickly. Zoe scored four further goals with help from her team mates Erin, Lucy and Nicole making the score 25 to 7. Cheadle Hulme challenged Carr Hill and scored twice but Zoe scored once again, making the score, 26 to 9.

The fourth quarter had some slight differences to the team. Elizabeth and Alice came on for Erin and Ellie. As this quarter began Cheadle Hulme took the lead straight away scoring four goals making the score 26 to 13. Carr Hill could have let this discourage them but with the help of team mates, Ellie, Erin and Emily giving them positive reinforcement from the side lines this didn’t happen. Instead the team picked up the pace and got the ball to Zoe, who scored two on point goals but it then went back to Cheadle Hulme who scored making the score 29 to 14.

Even though Cheadle had scored, the players were showing great confidence as a team and tried their best to get more goals. While Amy tried her best to score, Zoe was always there to help her. Carr Hill scored two more goals bringing the score to 31 to 14. The two new additions to the team, Elizabeth and Alice, proved to be excellent players. Elizabeth was great and worked well with Helen whilst Alice helped Lucy to get the ball to Zoe and Amy. Despite this Cheadle Hulme managed to score three further goals, making the final score, 31 to 17.

What a brilliant win for Carr Hill Netball Academy! The team carried on no matter what got in their way and showed that they have great chemistry as well as being willing and determined.  Also, injured players Amber and Emily came along to the game and gave the team supportive help on the sideline which no doubt assisted the win!

The player of the match was Lucy for her great team work and her brilliant techniques for setting up Zoe and Amy to score goals! Well done!

Amy Croasdale, who scored several goals within the game, said: “I thought we did well and we all encouraged each other. The whole team was supportive and worked together throughout the match. Zoe and Lucy did a particularly good job at encouraging us and helping us gain the win! Well done everyone!”
