Players from Carr Hill’s Elite Football Academy have been enjoying training sessions with professional football players Mark Roberts and Stewart Murdoch.

Mark and Stewart play for Fleetwood Town FC. Mark, who captains the team, has taken the time to come and train with Carr Hill players alongside his team mate.

The Football Academy squad, which is made up of 26 players, train weekly at Fylde Rugby Club. Carr Hill PE teachers Mr Grady and Mr Doughty usually coach the team on a 3G surface. However as part of the school’s growing links with Fleetwood Town FC and the club’s community outreach programme first team players have been offering free coaching to the Carr Hill squad.

The two Fleetwood players, who are currently completing their Level 2 football coaching qualification, are organising some excellent coaching sessions to help the Carr Hill squad develop new skills using engaging training methods.

PE teacher, Mr Doughty, said: “We are really pleased to have Mark and Stewart running our training sessions. The boys are responding well to the coaching methods and it is great that the academy team have the opportunity to learn from experienced, professional players like Mark and Stewart. Working with Fleetwood Town FC has been very beneficial for Carr Hill students and we thank the club for taking the time to get involved with the school.”

Captain of Fleetwood Town FC, Mark Roberts, said: “It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach the Carr Hill Football Academy. The school has a talented bunch of players who are egger to improve and take on board feedback. The team is a real credit to the school; the boys are dedicated and motivated, I’m sure many will go on to play in leagues within the region.
