Year 8 student Madison Hadley has taken the first steps to achieving her dream of playing football for England.

The talent footballer stole the show in the Football League Girls Cup last year, scoring an impressive 12 goals and helping Carr Hill to lift the Cup. Her superb performance caught the eye of scouts at Preston North End, where the competition was hosted, and Madison was soon joining the club’s U14s team for her first training session.

Madison’s skills also commanded interest from Lancashire’s quad and she soon became the first female footballer from Carr Hill to represent the county. Having always had a passion and natural ability for the game, Madison was encouraged by PE Teacher Mr Doughty to try out for both teams.

Mr Doughty said: “Madison came along to our first girls’ football training session in October last year. I immediately saw that she had massive potential. I spoke to her about where she currently played football and she said for Lytham Town boys U13s.

“Madison is the first girl footballer from Carr Hill to represent Lancashire and county level football representation at 13 years old is an unbelievable achievement.”

Madison has already played against a number of county teams with Lancashire and hopes the team can reach the league final which is likely to be held at a premier league ground.

The skilled 13 year old has been playing the game since she was seven years old. She said: “My dream is to play for Liverpool and England. I love football and can’t imagine doing anything else. My family are all really supportive and came along to my trials and now my games. I am really enjoying playing and I hope I reach the finals for both clubs.”

Mr Doughty said: “I believe that Madison has the technical ability to go to the very top of the women’s game in football. She needs to keep listening and learning and taking in all the advice given to her from her coaches. With the correct attitude and work ethic, I have no doubt she can play in The FA’s Women’s Super League.”
