The national School Performance Tables have been released and reveal that, nationally, compared to similar schools Carr Hill sits 15th out of 55 and is one of the top performing schools in Lancashire.

Carr Hill’s Sixth Form has been listed at number 57 in the BBC News top 100 for the best advanced vocational results nationally. Whilst the school ranks above other local secondary schools taking 41st place out of 162 schools in Lancashire.

The school performs well when it comes to added value for disadvantage pupils, ranking 21st out of 162. Based on Value Added for disadvantaged pupils the school ranks higher than Lancaster Royal Grammar, Balshaws’s Church of England High School and Broughton. This places the school in the top 25 of all schools with published results and in the top 12% of all schools in Lancashire.

And the good news keeps coming when it comes to expected progress. Out of 162 schools those students in the high prior attainment group (based on KS2) went on to achieve progress in Maths which places the school in the top 4% in Lancashire, above Lancaster Girls Grammar, Clitheroe Royal Grammar and Penwortham Girls amongst many others. All pupils achieved progress in English at Carr Hill High School & Sixth Form Centre and that places the school 19th of the schools with published results and in the top 11% in Lancashire, above Balshaw’s and Hutton Grammar.

The results also showcase Carr Hill’s excellent exam results with the school placed 23rd in Lancashire for  Boys achieving 5 A* – C including Maths and English, 40th for the number pupils going onto a higher education setting at age 16 and  17th for students staying on to sixth form. Carr Hill’s strict absence policy is also paying off as the school ranks 49th for lowest overall absence and 50th for lowest persistent absence.

Following on from the fantastic BBC ranking the school can also boast an average point score per A level that ranks Carr Hill 25th out of 73 and an average point score per A Level student that places the school 23rd out of 73. Of students achieving 3 A Levels (A* – E)  Carr Hills sits 27th out of 73 and 18th out of 73 for value added at Post 16 A Levels. The school also ranks at  9th for Vocational results Post 16 and 10th out of 73 for value added for vocational.

Headteacher, Mr Earnshaw, said:“I’m delighted by the fact that yet again students educated at Carr Hill achieved GCSE and A Level grades far higher than might have been expected based on their Key Stage 2 results when they came into the school, and well above the expected level nationally, while at the same having a great all-round education. Congratulations to the students, their parents and all the staff.”
