In a room full of staff, families and dignitaries including the Mayor of Fylde, the Mayor of Kirkham and the Chair of Governors here at Carr Hill, students were presented with their well-deserved prizes by Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Mrs L Nulty.

Current Year 12 student, Matthew Wood, picked up four awards from his outstanding success at GCSE, including the ‘Biological Sciences Subject Award’ and the ‘Highest Overall Points Score Award’. Matthew gained 8 A* and 5 A grades in his GCSE’s this summer and is now studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths at Carr Hill Sixth Form Centre.

Similar success was being celebrated by twin sisters, Abigail and Ellen Williams, who picked up a total of six awards between them. Headteacher, Mr Patrick Earnshaw felt that the evening had been a great success.

“These 16 and 18 year old students achieved examination scores putting them among the very best in the country, comparable to grammar schools and many private schools. Our Sixth Formers are off to some of the best universities in the UK to study for degrees in Accounting, Law, Psychology, Literature, Physics and Mathematics amongst many other courses.

“Their Carr Hill education has, I believe, served them very well indeed and we all look forward to hear of their on-going success in the future.”
