99% of students passed, with 62% of students gaining 3 A* – C grades or equivalent; and nearly a third of the students gained 3 A* – B grades, which is an increase on last year.

The results will see the majority of students heading off to study at the universities of their choice. Many students have achieved outstanding results.

Excited and nervous students started to collect their results from 8:00am and amongst the first was Megan Christopher who gained four A Levels at A* and A grades in English, History, Maths & General Studies and is going to read Law at the University of Manchester.

Twin sisters Abigail and Ellen Williams gained four fantastic A Levels each in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and General Studies. The twins are taking a gap year before going on to read Dentistry and Veterinary Science at two Russell Group universities.

An incredible 87% of students achieved one A* – B grade and 65% of students gained 2 A* – B grades, the Sixth Form’s highest ever results. The amount of students gaining at least three passes has increased to 91%, a significant improvement of over 10% on last year making this year our best results ever!

Head Boy John Gregson gained the highest point score in his year group. He achieved outstanding grades of Double Distinction and Double Distinction* in BTEC Engineering and Motor Vehicle Technology and is looking forward to starting his engineering apprenticeship at BAE Systems in September.

John said: “I am pleased with these results; they really prove that Carr Hill has lots of hard working staff who help us achieve the best.

“I would recommend Carr Hill Sixth Form to anyone. If you want to be treated as an individual and want teachers to really focus on you then I suggest you study here.”

Chinese student Paul Wong started Carr Hill High School as a Year 7 student knowing very limited English but has worked hard to improve his language skills while studying over the past seven years, and has achieved brilliant grades. He is extremely pleased with his results in Music Technology, Fine Art and Product Design.

Assistant Headteacher Paul Wallace is delighted with this year’s results.

He said: “Our determination is to get students, who we have educated for up to seven years, onto the top courses at the best universities or onto the best apprenticeships. The statistics show we are as good as or better than every provider locally. This is because our students get individual care and attention.”

“Congratulations to our students for their very hard work and determination over the last two years. All students should be extremely proud of their efforts.”
