THE Yellow Brick Road led to a feast of entertainment when Carr Hill students took part in a performance of The Wizard of Oz.

Students, Charlotte Wiggall and Miranda Wild, played the Scarecrow and the Tin Man in the pantomime staged by the Lytham St Annes Youth Theatre and Rainbow Dance Studios.

Over a series of five performances more than 100 youngsters from Lytham St Annes Youth Theatre, including two Carr Hill students, filled the stage at the Lowther Pavilion with colour and talent galore.

The show was a singing and dancing extravaganza with a range of dance works being showcased including tap and ballet.

Year 9 student, Charlotte, wasn’t cast in her role as the Scarecrow until the final days of rehearsals when she stepped up to take the place after the girl who was due to play the part had fallen ill.

She said: “Having only 10 days to rehearse was very daunting and put me under a lot of pressure because I had to learn lines as well as all the dances and songs.

“After the final performance I was so happy, it was just the realisation that I’d taken on such an immense task and carried it out well. Everyone was really pleased for me and my parents were incredibly proud.”

Students from all years at Carr Hill are currently in the middle of rehearsals for the annual production which takes place during the beginning of March and this year the students are showcasing the Dickens favourite, Oliver.

More information on tickets will be released closer to the show.
