Day Three of New York started in a much calmer way, with a walk through Central Park, admiring the horse-drawn carriages and Spanish Steps. The students gathered for a whole group photo, and enjoyed some time walking around exploring the park. They went to the Strawberry Fields memorial, where a musician sings some songs in memory of John Lennon, who was killed by a gunman outside his apartment block opposite this part of the park. They walked down to Fifth Avenue, passing The Plaza hotel, famous for it's long-standing high quality service, down to St Patrick's Cathedral. After a look round the Cathedral, they were able to do some shopping and browsing, as they were right opposite the Rockefeller Center. Some of the shops well-known for their high prices, Tiffany's and Gucci to name a couple, and some others to look for souvenirs or trinkets. An evening meal and back to the hotel for one last night and to get packed up.

Day Four started early, with a trip down to the United Nations Headquarters, looking over the East River. The students had a guided tour, and some time in the General Assembly buildings, listening to a speaker in one of the Conference Rooms. The group then made their way back to Times Square, for a final wander and bit of shopping, popping into the Disney Store, Forever 21 and I (heart) NY shop for souvenirs. Back to the hotel for their luggage and to get the coach, they were soon on their way back to the airport. After a smooth and on-time return flight, they landed in Manchester very early this morning (still feeling as though it was Monday, not Tuesday) and extremely tired. What a fantastic trip, an amazing opportunity for our young people and a massive thank you to the staff who accompanied them on such an awe-inspiring visit to the Big Apple!
