Fylde Youth Council are now inviting new Members.  At Fylde Youth Council young People aged 11-18 will be able to take action in matters that concern young people.  From affecting policy to local campaigns, if you know of any Young People who have a passion for bringing about change, Youth Council is a place for them to meet other motivated Young People who care about what happens in the world and want a future that represents their interests.

Coming up in November is Make Your Mark, a National event for Young People to vote on issues that matter to them. Running since 2011, Make Your Mark has reached millions of young people with more than 850,000 young people from every corner of the UK taking part in the summer of 2019.  In previous years, shortlisted issues have been debated in the House of Commons chamber by Members of Youth Parliament.

This year is very different for all young people due to Covid-19, however the UK Youth Parliament would still like to consult with young people around the issue that are important to them.  With this in mind, UK Youth Parliament has decided to still go ahead with the ballot but in a slightly different way from previous years.

The voting period is later in the year and is online only and the debating at the House of Commons will not happen until 2021 (still to be agreed).

If you are interested, you need to register, by 30th October, and take part in the consultation (which runs from 1st – 30th November 2020). Register online https://www.byc.org.uk/uk/uk-youth-parliament/make-your-mark

Lancashire has 5 elected Members of Youth Parliament that will represent our county at the House of Commons once the results are in, which will be announced in December. Fylde Youth Council meet every Thursday by Zoom from 7.30pm - 8.30pm.
