Officers from Lancashire Constabulary have delivered assemblies to all year groups focusing on gang and knife crime. The assemblies, entitled ‘Choose Life, Not the Knife’ focused on any fears pupils may have regarding knife crime, talking about the legalities regarding carrying and buying knives, the immediate and future consequences of carrying a knife and the devastation caused by knife crime.

Officers assured students that Lancashire is a safe place to live but also explained that there are things we all need to do to keep it that way. Students found out what circumstances can lead to a knife crime and how they themselves can act and reduce risks if they are concerned about a situation escalating. Another focus of the assemblies was how students can avoid becoming involved in gangs and continue to make positive choices moving away from negative life influences. The officers also provided lots of information about what students can do if they have any worries for themselves, friends or family  when it comes to knife and gang crime.

Assistant Headteacher Mr Johnstone said: “I would like to thank the officers from Lancashire Constabulary for delivering many important messages throughout the assemblies. I hope what students heard today will encourage them to continue to make the right choices for themselves and those around them.”
