This week we hear from Year 7 James who has written an account of his first few weeks at Carr Hill High School.Thank you, James.

On my first day at Carr Hill, I felt nervous and clueless; I didn’t have a clue what was going on. I was from a different school to everyone else and I didn’t know where most things were. I was also worried that I wouldn’t make friends. I felt like the odd one out.

Luckily, I learnt quickly how to get round school (even though I spent 15 minutes trying to get round doors that I thought were locked but weren’t). When I asked the teachers where things were, they were happy to help me and told me everything they knew. I eventually found my way to classes, even though I spent 5 minutes in the wrong science lesson once.

I have learnt lots of new things and done things I never thought I could do. I baked my own blueberry muffins and even though a section in the tray flooded and they were a bit under baked,  I was proud.

I did incredibly hard maths problems that I got wrong a lot but I eventually got them right. I’ve been challenged more than ever and I am really enjoying it. I’ve liked subjects I didn’t use to and become more confident. I’ve also made new friends and I can’t wait for what happens next.
