Students and staff at Carr Hill High School will now be able to recycle plastic bottles on site following the introduction of new recycling facilities in four locations. Bins can be found in the main dining room, the new dining room, the assembly hall and benches. Everyone is encouraged to use these facilities in a bid to help Carr Hill to become a more eco-friendly school.

But the bins are just the start as staff hope to work with students to form an eco-committee following feedback from Year 11 students Haidee and Gabrielle and members of the school council that students would like to do more at school to help the environment.

Year 11 Haidee said: "I'm happy to see the new bins around school. I think it is a step forward in helping the environment and it will hopefully lead to others giving more consideration to things such as reusable water bottles instead of using single use water bottles. There is still lots more that we can do and I hope we can keep doing more as a school."

School Business Manager Mrs Childs said: “Our students care about the environment and about supporting others in making small changes and choices which will have a big impact. We are pleased to be able to offer these new recycling facilities at school and thank our students for their valued input into the process. We will continue to work with our students to look at the ways in which we can do more to become an eco-friendly school community."
