Year 9 students attended an assembly run by Lancashire Constabulary highlighting the dangers and implications of carrying a weapon.

PC Matthew Lee, who is Fire Arms Officer for Lancashire Constabulary, delivered statistical information about knife crime, showed images of knife wounds and discussed the many implications of carrying a knife or being involved with someone who carries a knife.  The assembly also covered gang culture and highlighted the most at risk groups (males aged between 14-24). At the end of the assembly students were given details of the many organisations, in addition to the school, which they could contact should they be concerned either for themselves or for others.

Assistant Headteacher Mr Johnstone said: “We would like to thank PC Matthew Lee and his team for the assembly that was delivered. With knife crime on the rise nationally it is important that we continue to educate our students on the dangers of using weapons, becoming involved in gangs or putting themselves in situations which could put them and their future at risk. “
